Grenada

Grenada is a three-island Caribbean country made up of Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique, known for beaches, sailing, diving, spice estates, rainforest, waterfalls, chocolate, rum, and a compact island culture. The Grenada Tourism Authority's Pure Grenada site organizes planning around the three islands, the Underwater Sculpture Park, eco-adventures, festivals and culture, culinary travel, family fun, wellness, weddings, sailing, diving, shopping, attractions, accommodations, restaurants, flights, travel requirements, and getting around.

Grand Anse is the classic beach base, with calm water, hotels, restaurants, and easy access to St. George's. First-time visitors should add the harbor and market in St. George's, Fort George or Fort Frederick, Grand Etang National Park, Annandale or Seven Sisters waterfalls, Belmont Estate, River Antoine Rum Distillery, chocolate experiences, and a boat or dive trip to the Molinere Underwater Sculpture Park. Carriacou and Petite Martinique are quieter and appeal to sailors, divers, and travelers who want smaller-island pacing.

A long weekend can work for Grand Anse and St. George's, but five to seven days is better for rainforest, beaches, sailing, and a Carriacou day or overnight trip. The drier season from roughly January to May is easiest for beach-and-water plans; June through November is hurricane season, and travelers should monitor storms. Roads are narrow and winding, driving is on the left, and a temporary local driver's license is recommended for rentals.

The State Department lists Grenada as Level 2 as of January 5, 2026 because of crime. U.S. tourists do not need a visa; entry is granted for three months and can be extended. Passports need six months validity beyond entry and one blank page, and travelers need return or onward travel evidence. Visitor Tip: Use clearly marked taxis after dark, ask whether the driver is a Grenada Taxi Association member, and do not leave valuables unattended on beaches or in rental cars.
