North Macedonia is a landlocked Balkan country where Lake Ohrid, Ottoman-era bazaars, Orthodox monasteries, mountain parks, archaeological sites, wine routes, and compact city breaks fit into manageable distances. Summer is the busiest period around Lake Ohrid, while spring and autumn are better for walking, photography, and lower crowds; winter favors mountain scenery and ski areas when snow conditions cooperate.

Visitor Tip: Give Ohrid at least two nights rather than treating it as a rushed day trip; the lake, churches, viewpoints, and Saint Naum are best with early and late-day light.
