Hua Hin is a long-established Thai seaside town on the Gulf of Thailand, with a quieter, more domestic-resort character than Pattaya. Hua Hin Beach runs beside the town and is practical for sunrise walks, swimming when conditions allow and beachside dining. The historic railway station is a short walk from the center and is worth seeing for its distinctive royal pavilion, though train operations and station access can change. Cicada Market is a popular evening arts, food and craft market near the Khao Takiab side of town. It is best paired with Khao Takiab, a 77-meter hill with Wat Khao Takiab and views along the coast; the hill is steep and its resident monkeys should not be fed or approached.
