Koh Phi Phi
Koh Phi Phi is an Andaman Sea archipelago inside Hat Noppharat Thara-Mu Ko Phi Phi National Park, centered on inhabited Phi Phi Don and the uninhabited cliffs of Phi Phi Le. It is visually exceptional but busy: Tonsai Bay is the ferry, hotel and nightlife hub, while Maya Bay, Viking Cave and smaller beaches require boat travel. It suits swimmers, divers, photographers and social island travelers who are prepared for crowds, heat and weather-dependent plans.
Maya Bay on Phi Phi Le is the signature stop, made globally famous by The Beach. It is a fragile national-park site with restrictions and seasonal rehabilitation closures; current rules can affect landing, swimming, visitor numbers and boat access, so rely on official park or Tourism Authority announcements, not old itineraries. Early departures help with crowds, but even an early boat trip should be treated as a managed nature visit rather than an empty beach experience. Viking Cave is generally viewed from boats rather than explored independently.
Tonsai Bay and Tonsai Village are convenient for ferries, diving shops, food and nightlife. The settlement is compact and largely pedestrian, but luggage still has to be carried from the pier, and the noise level can be high near beach bars. The Phi Phi Viewpoint above the isthmus is the classic panorama; it is a steep, humid climb, so go in cooler light with water and shoes that grip. Monkey Beach is often included on boat trips, but do not feed or touch macaques, secure food and bags, and follow crew instructions.
November through April is generally the clearest season for Andaman boat trips, while rain and rougher seas can affect service at other times. Visitor Tip: Arrive with one flexible day, stay near Tonsai only if you want its nightlife, and confirm Maya Bay status with an authorized operator or park source immediately before booking.
