Kolkata is hot and humid before the monsoon, often wet during it, and busiest around Durga Puja; morning walks and late-afternoon river views are generally more comfortable. Metro, taxis, and app-based rides are practical for long cross-city distances, but allow extra time for traffic and use marked crossings on major roads.
