Positano is the vertical village of the Amalfi Coast: pastel houses, steep stairways, small beaches, boutiques, and sea views compressed between the Lattari Mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Spiaggia Grande is the central beach and harbor, while Fornillo is reached by a scenic coastal path and is often a calmer alternative. The Path of the Gods is the major active pairing. Historically the route linked Amalfi Coast towns before the road, and its classic approach from Agerola descends toward Nocelle and Positano. Allow a full day for the hike, or at least a half-day for Positano itself plus a boat ride or beach time.
