The evening Aarti is visually powerful but crowded; decide whether you prefer a riverside view, a boat, or simply a quieter ghat elsewhere.

The historic center is intensely crowded, narrow, hot, and uneven, especially during festivals and the monsoon. Temple security, identification rules, restricted items, queues, and darshan or Aarti arrangements can change, so use official temple or Kashi portals rather than informal promises of shortcuts. Wear modest clothing, remove shoes where required, secure valuables, drink safe water, and expect limited step-free access near the ghats. River conditions, boat operations, and flood risk need a same-day check in wet months.
