Playa Norte is the signature beach of Isla Mujeres, located at the island's north end near El Centro, the ferry terminal, hotels, beach clubs, restaurants, and Hidalgo Street. It is famous because the water is typically shallow, clear, and calmer than the exposed Caribbean-facing east coast. Families enjoy the gentle shallows, couples come for sunset, and day-trippers can combine beach time with lunch and a short walk through town. It is not a secluded beach, especially when ferries and catamarans are busy.

Allow 2 to 4 hours, or a full beach day if you rent loungers. Morning is best for quieter sand and clearer photos; late afternoon is best for sunset. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, pesos for beach clubs and tips, and sandals for hot sand. Avoid leaving belongings unattended, watch boat traffic at the edges, and check flags or local advice after storms. The island is easiest to reach by ferry from Puerto Juarez or Cancun-area terminals, then on foot or by taxi/golf cart.
