Tortugranja was Isla Mujeres' small sea-turtle farm and visitor attraction, historically located near Hacienda Mundaca on the island's central-west side. It once gave travelers a short, informal look at turtle conservation and captive animals, but current independent listings now identify the attraction itself as permanently closed. Do not plan an island day around a visit or assume that an older guidebook's admission, displays, or release information is still valid.

The closure of Tortugranja does not mean turtle protection has ended on Isla Mujeres. The municipal government continues to operate a sea-turtle conservation program and reported 2025 public education and protection work with its Campamento Tortuguero. That program is conservation activity, not evidence that the former visitor facility has reopened. Any nesting-season viewing, hatchling release, or volunteer activity should be arranged only through an authorized local program after directly confirming the terms.

The former site can be mapped near Hacienda Mundaca, but it is not a practical attraction stop while closed. Travelers who pass the area should respect barriers and private property rather than trying to enter for photographs. For a better use of time, visit Punta Sur for coastal scenery, arrange a reputable snorkeling trip where conditions permit, or ask the municipal ecology office about current public conservation education. Never handle turtles or hatchlings, use flash around nesting wildlife, or purchase turtle products.

This is best treated as a conservation-context listing for families and wildlife-minded visitors, not as an open aquarium. Check current official notices immediately before travel because local programs and access can change with the nesting season, storms, and animal-welfare requirements.
